Father of the alphabet, founder of Thebes and Ohrid, and grandfather to the blood-drunk god Dionysius, the ancient hero Cadmus speaks only rarely for himself in the texts we know today. He is given a new voice now, in a premiere appearance by poet and performer Robert Isaf. Presented alongside a diverse selection of song and lyric that varies nightly and spans from Appalachia to the Caucasus, CADMUS THE KING is the prize-winning poet’s first feature work, grappling with the fundamental tensions of four thousand years in the frame of a man whose myth made poetry possible.
CADMUS THE KING is in English; audiences are encouraged to read briefly about Cadmus and his legend before the lights dim.
Performance von Robert Isaf.
